Belgian Air Navigation Service Provider skeyes Achieves GreenATM Level 3 Accreditation for Second Consecutive Year
For the second year in a row, CANSO has confirmed that skeyes, the Belgian air navigation service provider, has achieved the Level 3 ‘Managed’ sustainability target within the GreenATM environmental certification program. On November 12, the organization once again awarded skeyes the GreenATM quality label. This ongoing recognition highlights skeyes’ sustained efforts to minimize both the direct environmental impacts of its operations and the emissions of airspace users under its jurisdiction, establishing skeyes as one of the pioneering air navigation service providers to attain this significant milestone.
The GreenATM program, launched at the end of 2022, provides an independent evaluation of air navigation service providers' initiatives to reduce their ecological footprint and limit excess emissions in their managed airspace. CANSO awards Level 3 ‘Managed’ to organizations demonstrating the active implementation of environmental management strategies that lower emissions within their airspace.
By once again awarding this certificate and label, CANSO reaffirms skeyes’ consistent advancements in environmental management and sustainable development. The GreenATM program recognizes organizations across various engagement levels, from acknowledging policy impact (Level 1) to the complete implementation of sustainability strategies with a positive environmental impact (Level 5). This renewed Level 3 label signifies that skeyes is taking structured and measurable steps toward sustainable air navigation. Currently, Level 3 represents the highest level achieved within the air navigation sector.
With this renewed accreditation, skeyes ranks among the leaders in sustainable air navigation, actively implementing concrete measures to reduce CO₂ emissions, contributing toward the aviation industry’s target of net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050.
