skeyes achieves GreenATM Level 4 accreditation, setting a global benchmark for sustainable air navigation services

Towards tomorrow’s sustainable aviation

Steenokkerzeel, 16 December 2025 - skeyes, the Belgian air navigation service provider (ANSP), has been awarded the GreenATM Level 4 accreditation by the international industry association CANSO – the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation. skeyes is the first ANSP in the world to achieve Level 4 in the accreditation programme.

After earning Level 3 in 2023 and again in 2024, this new accreditation marks a significant milestone and confirms the advances that skeyes has made in a consistent and measurable way towards its climate and environmental objectives.

Compared to its Level 3 accreditation, skeyes gained 16 more points under the GreenATM multi-level scoring system that assesses ANSP performance across 24 topics. This achievement is a clear confirmation of the ambitious path the organisation has taken to reduce its own environmental footprint and that of the airspace users using its services.

Le GreenATM Level 4 Award

A major step forward towards a more sustainable aviation sector

The GreenATM programme, launched in 2022, provides an independent assessment of the efforts made by ANSPs—both in their own operations and by enabling aircraft to fly more efficiently—to reduce their environmental impact.

Launched in 2022, the GreenATM programme provides an independent assessment of air navigation service providers’ efforts to reduce their environmental impact. The programme covers: governance and strategy, improvements in ground, terminal and en-route operations, infrastructure and utilities, procurement, community relations and mobility.

To achieve Level 4, skeyes demonstrated:

  • three consecutive years of CO₂ emission reductions,
  • ambitious environmental targets supported by structured monitoring,
  • the implementation of an environmental management system that will be certified in the coming years,
  • the use of 100% renewable electricity and detailed tracking of energy consumption,
  • the modernisation of infrastructures to make resource use more efficient.

Thanks to improved flight procedures, better operational information, and strong cooperation with partners, skeyes is contributing in a meaningful way to helping aircraft operating in its airspace, reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

International recognition for a concrete and coherent approach

Enrico Parini, Director Europe Affairs of CANSO, highlights the significance of this:

We are very pleased that skeyes, a member of CANSO Europe, is the first ANSP in the world to achieve GreenATM accreditation Level 4. This is recognition of its ambitions to become more sustainable as an organisation and to reduce aircraft emissions in Belgian’s skies. We congratulate our skeyes colleagues on their efforts and hope that this can become an example to other ANSPs in Europe and beyond.”
Enrico Parini, Director Europe Affairs of CANSO

The recognition of years of sustained effort

For skeyes, this accreditation is both a reward and a motivation to continue investing in sustainability.

Johan Decuyper, CEO of skeyes, states:

“After reaching Level 3 in 2023, we consider this new accreditation as confirmation that we are clearly moving in the right direction. It highlights the real impact of our efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of our own operations and of the airlines we support. The GreenATM assessment helped us identify further opportunities for improvement, and we will continue investing in innovative and effective solutions. skeyes remains fully committed to building the low-emission aviation of tomorrow.”
Johan Decuyper, CEO of skeyes
